Heated Tile Floor Installation

The Luxury You Can Feel. Serving Marietta and Greater Atlanta.

Tile and stone feel cold underfoot for much of the year. An electric radiant floor changes that: heating cables sit just beneath the tile and warm the floor itself, so the room is comfortable from the ground up.

We install Schluter Ditra-Heat, which combines the heating cable with an uncoupling membrane. The same thin layer that holds the cable in place also protects the tile from cracks caused by movement in the subfloor.

What's Included

  • Schluter Ditra-Heat membrane and heating cable
  • Cable layout mapped to the room
  • Integrated programmable thermostats
  • Substrate uncoupling and crack isolation
  • Self-leveling preparation where the floor needs it

Why we install Ditra-Heat

Older heated floor systems bury the cable in a layer of self-leveler before the tile goes on, adding height and curing time. With Ditra-Heat, the cable snaps between the studs of the membrane and the tile is set directly over it, keeping the floor thin.

The membrane also uncouples the tile from the subfloor. Wood and concrete expand, contract and shift slightly over time; uncoupling lets that happen without the movement reaching the tile, which is how cracked tile and grout are prevented.

Heated Tile Floors

Questions we hear often.

Can a heated floor go under marble or natural stone?

Yes. Ditra-Heat works under porcelain, ceramic and natural stone tile.

Can heated floors be added under existing tile?

No. The system is installed beneath the tile, so it goes in when a floor is being tiled or re-tiled. If you are planning a new tile floor, that is the time to decide.

Which rooms can have heated tile floors?

Bathrooms are the most common, but heated floors work in kitchens, mudrooms, laundry rooms and any other room finished in tile or stone.
